Vienna Tamil Sangam is a secular and non-profit cultural organization for Tamil diaspora living in Austria.
The origin of Vienna Tamil Sangam could be traced back to the informal gathering of Tamils living in Vienna in the early 1980s just to eat, chat and entertain each other through songs, dialogue. In practical terms, it was just a Sabbadu Sangam. Everybody brought food from their home and the sheer variety of food and different taste ushered in unity in diversity. There was indeed a great feeling of oneness and belonging during those occasions. It was initiated by Dr. Jebamalai Vinanchiarachi. Sridhar and Radha were very generous to allow the members of the informal Sangam to use the facilities at Heuberg restaurant free of cost. Thanks to the initiatives of the youth, the Sangam was formally formed. Today, the Vienna Tamil Sangam is an officially recognized association. Because of the high degree of professionalism demonstrated by the executives and members, the Vienna Tamil Sangam is growing from strength to strength, encompassing a diversified profile of activities.
